Ryan has been involved in more than 150 real estate transactions in the Bay Area, totaling over $400,000,000. His clients consistently rave about his deeply analytical approach to understanding overall market trends and competitive value for individual properties, his masterful approach to negotiation with others involved in a transaction, his responsive and creative approach to solving problems that come up, and his direct but supportive style in coaching his real estate clients to success in the areas they care most about. In the words of one client, “Ryan knows how to win - and he helps us win again and again.” Ryan and his team are deeply fluent in San Francisco real estate law, building code, tenant/landlord considerations and more, and are known for their tailored approach to every client creating a smooth experience throughout the entire real estate process that meets their personal needs.
Ryan brings deep experience from a prior career in architecture, design and construction including roles at Rem Koolhaas’s architecture firm OMA, Cook + Fox Architecture, ORG Architecture, and Kugler Ning Lighting Design. His acclaimed projects spanned the globe from San Francisco to Shanghai to Siem Reap and ran the gamut from high-end residential and commercial projects to winning entries in highly prestigious international design competitions. Ryan’s design experiences give him a unique view both on the potential value of any individual property as well as ‘how it will live’ for a potential buyer, and how best to match the right person to the right home.
Ryan comes from a multi-generational family of real estate investment, development, and property management and grew up spending weekend afternoons driving by potential property purchases or visiting construction projects underway. He has managed several personal renovation projects in San Francisco and Boston, as well as worked with clients in residential construction and renovation and managing contractors and design vendors. These experiences complement his design background well, giving him the expertise on how to improve homes over time and ensure they retain value.
Ryan received his BS in Architecture with a Minor in Structural Engineering from Washington University in St. Louis. He also holds a Dual Masters in Architecture and Urban Planning from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), where he received the Rosemary Grimshaw Award for his graduate thesis work and was chosen as a teaching assistant for several design studio courses. Ryan enjoys playing piano, woodworking, and spending time with his family including two rambunctious young sons Walter and Russell and a large Airedale terrier named Callum. Ryan and his husband Jevan are homeowners in the remarkable Clarendon Heights neighborhood of San Francisco.
